I've always enjoyed taking pictures. So much so that sometimes people would refer to me as the "papparazzi". My little Canon Elf was a great camera, but it just didn't take pics fast enough and I always wished I could blur the background (even though I didn't have a clue that I needed to be able to open up the aperture. What the heck did aperture even mean!)
Then one day a friend let me take a few pictures with his Nikon D300 and I fell in love! (Well, it was actually a few hundred, but that's a few, right?!!) I figured I'd eventually get an D-SLR one day when I could afford it.
Then for Christmas (2008) Ben completely surprised me with a Nikon D90. I was so excited!!! Wow does it take amazing pictures! Immediately I had to test out the ability to adjust the shutter speed so I had Ben run up and down the sidewalk for me!
I spent hours reading the manual, but there's just so much to learn! Four months had passed and I finally felt like I knew what all the buttons are supposed to do, and then Ben surprised me with a SB-600 Speedlight for my birthday. I felt so overwhelmed.
Now almost a year later I think I can take some pretty decent pictures. I still have a lonnnnggg ways to go, so I keep reading books, watching online seminars and taking pics of everything around.
